Arkansas pulls out all the stops for the road less traveled to give you wonders just like Hawksbill Crag, or the more formal name, Whitaker Point.

Stunning, remote, and for all the reasons we love this area, the Crag sticks out like a beautiful sore thumb.

Whitaker Point is a great day hike at 3 miles round trip. ANY TIME OF YEAR this hike is an eye-full. We prefer the spring, as it offers a nice waterfall area with trees tarting to bloom. On the flip side, we can’t say we aren’t fans of the fall, abound with glowing reds, oranges, and yellows. The Ozarks rival the Northeast with color, but that’s a whole other article.
Looking to pop the question? Here’s your spot. Kiss the girl (or whatever you’re in to)? Here’s your spot. Cut your photography teeth? Here’s your spot.
We do want to stress safety. These are tall bluffs and there have been some accidents in the past. So please bring proper footwear, and keep to the paths.
Fun fact: Some scenes of the Disney film “Tuck Everlasting” were filmed right here!
Hawksbill Crag is worth it, guys. The air is just different there, too. So breathe deep.
You’re in the Buffalo National Forest, by the way. Many cool spots to take in. Stop by and see out friends at the Buffalo Outdoor Center. Great people and a great outfitter.
