White River Wonderland – Riverside Park – Batesville
FREE
– Open Nightly Until Dec 31st

The White River glows with Christmas lights at Riverside Park

Carriage rides? Ice skating rink? On the river? COUNT US IN! This is actually one of Arkansas’s lesser known holiday treats, but worth the drive! Talk about packed full of magic! It’s a drive through, so tune into those classic Christmas tunes and take the whole family. OH, and they have the “White River Wonderland Express,” which is a train ride through the lights. But it’s Arkansas to the max because it’s a tractor shaped like a train, so, there’s that.

Illuminate, A Conway Christmas Tradition – Conway Saturday, November 30 – FREE

The whole town shows up for this must see celebration

Conway is one of the fastest growing cities in Arkansas, but still has that small town charm and feel about it. It’s one of the reasons we call it home. But this is one of our favorite events of the entire year. This is an annual event where they light the massive Christmas tree in the town square. The lighting is at 6, but the event lasts from 3pm to 8pm.

Know who’s awesome? Preston Palmer. He needs his own write-up about keeping an amazing music store alive in small town America, but for this instance we’ll give him a big ol’ pat on the back for supplying the entertainment for the evening. Too much to list, just know he gets our vote when he wants to run for mayor.

While you’re there, see the town from the 100′ Ferris wheel! Pictures with jolly man run from 3pm to 6pm, you can also indulge in the family friendly crafts and games in the same time. Hot chocolate and cider booths, train rides for the kiddos, and a mini-me Ferris wheel for the youngsters.

Pro Tip: The line gets long for the Ferris wheel, so plan accordingly. We’d rather spend our money on a carriage ride, which are available during the event. OH and do us a favor, if you’re going to propose this holiday season, try on the carriage rides, not at grandma’s house on Christmas day.
